An Equine Celebration: Happy Birthday!

I'm almost 2 weeks late with this post, but you know what they say--"Better late...". I was invited to a birthday party for "Star", Janelle's horse. She is actually classified as a pony.

She is trying very hard to find the gift in this bucket--I think maybe it was carrots?

We, of course, had carrot cake, and Star thoroughly enjoyed her piece! She actually was quite good at getting the last crumb off that plate.
The kids really had a good time! (Kate, Kelsie, Luke, Taylor and Taylor).
I gave Star a card (and a carrot). I'm sure she was much more excited about the carrot, but as you can see, she's trying to act thrilled with the card as well. I had to sort of improvise on the card--it originally had a dog on the front. I replaced it with a horse. The inside said "Hope you get your hooves on lots of birthday goodies."
My hubby very patiently kept Star in tow with her harness and leash.

Enough of this party! She is having some hay and then heading out to enjoy the pasture.

The kids each had a horse shoe to paint. They were all very original. (Taylor S is a Colts fan, so his was a 'Colts' symbol.)

We enjoyed carrot cake and ice cream and a good time was had by all (including Star!).

Heaven is For Real

A lot of the reading I do is for pleasure and relaxation. But many times I read something that has really challenged me or I've learned something new. But it's been a long time since a book has had this kind of an impact on me.

This is written by the father of a little boy who was very sick, and while he was in surgery, he went to Heaven and back. I'll have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first. But it has encouraged my heart like nothing has in a long time.

Very possibly, I was so impressed by this book because I have so many close family members who are in Heaven. In the past I've read books about Heaven, just trying to get a feel for what Heaven must be like. But this has given me new insight and given me some new ideas to think about.

For about a week after I read this book, I just couldn't stop thinking about Heaven, and my loved ones who are there. It caused me to say, "Even so come, Lord Jesus!"
