Unconditional Love

I am always amazed and encouraged when I see examples of unconditional love in action. I am reading the book "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. It has been sort of a hard book for me to read. But then I realized that there really are children/adults who are horribly abused by family or other people. It is hard for me to imagine, coming from such a wonderful family where love abounded. And it is difficult for me to think about.

That being said, I was so very impressed by a post I read on Cindy's blog, about an amish couple. The wife has multiple sclerosis, and the husband is devoted to her and lovingly meets all of her needs. I wanted to include a link to her post here, as I think it is good for all of us to see this kind of love in action, and in turn show more love to those around us in our every day lives.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with truth. it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. I Corinthians 13: 4-8.

Makes me think of the song, "What The World Needs Now, Is Love, Sweet Love."

I can't imagine the pain that comes with abuse. God can heal that pain and so many people need to know the love of God.

Blessings

I really liked the book Redeeming Love and highly recommend it. Yes, parts of it are difficult but it is amazing to think of God's love for us. I found it challenging and affirming.

I pray that God will wrap His arms around the young Amish couple and that they will be aware daily of His presence.

That book is on our reading list for my book club. I grew up in an abusive home and can empathise with so many that are facing hardship such as that. Thank you for your insight.

I'm exactly like Dee - just can't read books on abuse or watch TV shows that have violent scenes.

I DO love stories like that of the Amish couple and actually, the more you are around people, the more examples like that you see...The love of several parents I know for their handicapped children is absolutely beautiful, comes to my mind.

I also had read Cindy's post and agree it is definitely worth sharing. Love the verse as well...we used it in our wedding ceremony 25 years ago. It seems simple on the surface but it is so full of deep stuff!
